33. I was able to get my MP530 to print direct to CD using the directions here. Must I return it from EUR mode to re-enable the DRP (distinctive ring pattern) feature ? How is this done ? I have this machine as my fax as well and sort of need this feature.

I have installed CD-LabelPrint software and when I go to start it I get error message: "A compatible printer for printing CD media was not found" as if software does not see MP830 network printer?    Where should I buy the printer?

   I recommend a local store and also purchase a 2 year extended warranty. If the complicated mechanical device should break then you can simply return it and get it replaced (usually for free). The last two year warranty I bought cost me $25 but I replaced a $150 printer so it was worth it. Those low priced online deals are very tempting though. :)

   They usually work the same as the older models *if* nothing has changed. The IP4300 was recently updated to the IP4500 but the process worked the same. After trying the process with your new model and succeeding please email me to let me know that you succeeded with a model that wasn't listed yet.

   The LCD screen is not used in the process except with the older MP700 series. Please ignore the LCD display if your model has one.

   What is Tray Rejection?

   It's when you do the five steps and it still rejects the tray, tray rejection is cause by many factors. If tray rejection continues please read the Tray Rejection General Guide and also Tray Rejection and Mac OSX.

   Canon CD trays are sold on eBay, search eBay for “Canon CD Tray”.

   Make sure to have paper in both trays and that the paper selection is set to rear tray not the bottom before entering service mode.

    I own a Mac does it work with OS X?

    Yes but Canon CD label print has some major bugs on OS X, I recommend other better mac software or an Adobe template if you have Adobe software. More information can be found about this under Tray rejection and Mac OSX.

    What's the deal with the popup ads?

    On the old site http://pixma.ulmb.com the free host would inject ads. They could be blocked though with FF and adblock but many noobs didn't know how to do this.

    The new site at http://damnprinter.com does not have these popup ads because it's on a different hosting service.

    Should I buy a stand alone printer like the Canon IP4500 or get a multi-functional like the MP610?

    Once when I was young and foolish I bought a $289 multi-functional fax/scanner/printer. It lasted as long as the warranty and then died. I was out $289 and vowed to never again own a multi-functional again. I bought a separate scanner and printer after and have always done that since.

    However the quality is better today and the price is a lot lower as well. I see the MP610 for $140 which is a very good deal.

    PS: I did recently buy a cheap Canon multi-functional at a whopping price of $20, the ability to do a quick copy without turning the computer on is very nice and at twenty bucks it was a no brainer.

    About 2 to 4 years, they are more complicated then most people think and on top of that they are mechanical devices that don't usually get used every day.

    CDRS = CDR Sensor offset (usually anything but zero's)

    CDRP = CDR Position is usually automatically set but can also be manually set if there is some white area still showing: Canon CD Alignment

    This is called tray rejection and it means the steps were not successful, repeat the steps again, it doesn't always work the first time. Also read the tray rejection category located on the site.

    The Service mode printout will only display "CDR SENSOR=OK", it should also have Euro on it somewhere to indicate that the neccessary changes were made.

    My dvd tray doesn't go all the way in, something is stopping it, if I enable this feature will it go all the way in or do I need rollers?

    The tray has arrows on it and the inner door has arrows on it as well, sometimes the arrows are white and sometimes they are black indented. The tray is only sucked all the way in during operation which is partly control by settings in the printer properties. It's important not to force the tray in further which may cause damage.

    Some canon re-setters have shown up on the market but they cost $50 and are kind of pointless if you are trying to lower your cost by using refill ink. Just be sure to check the ink levels before big print job.

    Yes...a lot of newer models use the same procedure as their older models.

    Sadly you wasted your money buying a new print head for the 6000, the 6600 & 6700 were much improved over the 6000. It was the only bad model canon produced and they took it off the market pretty quickly.

    The LCD language can be changed by reading the manual that came with your model. You can also download the PDF manual from Canon's website if you have misplaced it.

    European Mode doesn't support DRP. You need to repeat the steps and instead of pressing 4 times for euro press 3 times which will change it back to USA mode.

    *NOTE: For most models USA mode is one less then Euro mode. So if it took 5 times for Euro then 4 times will be USA mode. If your not sure please email me before proceeding.

    Canon CD-Label Print will look for the printer that is attached directly to the computer with the USB cable. You will need to use different software like Nero Cover Designer or Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements when using it on a wifi network.
