Hello,

Another confirmation of the Canon Pro9000 MK II. It took a couple of times, probably my mistake and I had to use print1 to get the diagnostic printout. I just removed the drivers and reinstalled from my US canon cd install. Then the canon solutions listed cd tray printing. I am using accoustica label printer with no problems.

Thank you very much,
Randy

Service Error 6A80

Alternate blinking of power and resume button. (thats green and orange button alternate blinking.)
Also the cartridge carrier isn't moving if you turn ON the power button.

I can't get this into service mode. blinking persists after doing the service mode procedure.

I thought something might be stuck somewhere. How do I get the cartridge move to the left? Any switch to press to have it freely move to the left side?

Dear MP640 Readers,

I wanted to let you know that after following the above instructions and then ordering a Tray G, the CD print feature worked like a charm. My thanks to QuadCore for helping me fix my printer. It was after diligent research that I decided to get a Canon MP640. The CD print capability was one of the main reasons for this choice of a "Multifunction" printer. Much to my dismay, it was only after the printer arrived that I discovered that the CD print feature was disabled. There is no mention that this was the case on the Canon web site. Since this printer is significantly different than the ones being sold in Europe and Japan, Canon should have given it a different model number in the U.S. (or at least a suffix like MP640A).

Thanks QuadCore!

<font size=4><a href="#comment-20726" rel="nofollow">Response To: </a>hb</font>

There are also several circuit boards in the printer that can break. It's probably not worth fixing but maybe you can buy one off of ebay and use the new print head that you bought.

Have a MX850 and bought it refurbished off of canon's website and have completed the 5 step process but still am unable to get it to work. I keep getting the error message: Open the inner cover, place the CD-R tray and press OK. The tray is indeed down and I am able to insert the tray so that in lines up with the arrows but it still gives me the error message. Ive tried an EPROM reset, Australia and Europe modes, reinstalled the software completely, and used different USB cables. I am starting to believe it is a hardware problem because when I am in copy mode and select the DVD/CD label copy under the special copy mode, I still get the same error. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

EXACT same problem with my MP600 (also black only) - help please!
Question for previous post: Have you recently installed refilled cartridges? I don't believe there's a connection, but I'm exploring options (been using refilled OEM cartridges several weeks before problem started). Refilled at a local re-inking store, which was also able to reset chip on cartridge. Thanks

I have a Canon Pixma MP 780 multifunction printer/fax/scan/copy machine and can't get the colors to work. I've replaced the Print Head with brand new one, installed new Canon ink cartridges, even ultrasonically cleaned the print head using alcohol and still no color. I've ran deep cleaning numerous times. Black ink works.

Is there something in the programing not working? Can I do some thing "service" mode to reset something?

I like the features and solid construction of this model and am disappointed in newer Canon models.

Got any fix ideas? Thanks.

I just noticed the updated list of Canon printers that will print cd/dvds. Thanks for the update. I wanted to purchase a printer but was afraid the printer I bought would not allow cd/dvd printing.

I have three questions regarding the new models:

Question 1) Do these new models - ip4700 & mp640 - require the purchasing of a cd/dvd tray?
Question 2) If so, which tray type does each use?
Question 3) Does the ip4700 & mp640 require purchasing rollers as the older models required?

I have an MP980 and followed all the steps. The printout with the colors on it shows CDR Sensor=NG so I guess CAnon did not put the CDR Sensor in the US models. I love the printer output in terms of quality but I doubt if I will ever buy an other Canon printer due to their tricks re CD Printing and the amount of ink it uses.
