MP530: removed inner cover plate, reprogrammed MP530 for “Euro,” uninstalled drivers, re-installed drivers, installed CD-Label software. Printed on the CDs first time! Works great.

I also have an Epson Photo R200, which also prints on CDs. So I did a speed comparison with a stopwatch. I used the software that came with the Epson (it’s called “Epson Print CD”). I printed two identical CD designs, with both text and color graphics. I used the fastest Epson mode and the standard Canon mode. The Canon was WAY faster:

    Canon MP530: 62 seconds
    Epson Photo R200: 161 seconds.

The MP970 steps are here: http://damnprinter.com/?p=137

The tray letter will be listed in the printer properties after you do the steps, so you will know exactly which one to buy.

I have a Canon PIXMA Pro 9500. I have always been frustrated by the knowledge that it was capable of printing on discs but was disabled in the US. I ran across your info while searching for a solution to another shortcoming.

Thank you for the helpful info. It worked Great!

I didn’t find a template for the Canon Tray E. With some searching and trial and error I’ve made my own template. I would be happy to share it in .psd or .pdf or .jpg.

I really need to find a work around for the 22 inch feed limit. I shoot Panoramas and really want to be able to print them bigger then 4″- 6″ x 20″. They are great at 10″ or 12″ x 40″- 45″. It’s much more expensive to out-source that size then if I could do it myself. If anyone has a solution whether it be a third-party driver or what ever I would greatly appreciate it. Continuous feed is the solution I’m looking for not taped together like Canon suggests. Any help at all will be wonderful.

    Thank you,

Would love the Canon Tray E template in pdf format. You can send it to damnprinter@gmail.com

Canon probably put the 22 inch feed limit in place to force professionals to buy more expensive models. They do stuff like that a lot in there camera’s as well.
