CD Label Print is pretty buggy, try different software. Also check the printer properties and see if tray letter is listed.

    You have two options:

    1. Borrow a PC with Windows.
    2. Run Windows on your Mac.

Windows 7 enterprise trial can be downloaded for free and run for 90 days.

No…the functions aren’t needed on a daily basis. Once something is enabled it stays that way. The world is littered with Laptops running Windows, find a friend invite him over and plug your canon printer into his machine and 5 minutes later CD printing is enabled.

    Hi:

Followed the new “Steps ” for iP4700. Everything looks good, but on “Print” command, disc tray is ingested completely, then immediately rolls out. Also redid per your suggestions for Mac users, no go. Any thoughts?

An error can be caused by lowering the inner door and inserting the tray too early. Click the print button and wait for it to tell you to insert the tray. Then walk to the printer and lower the inner door and insert the tray.

Let me know if that solves the problem.

Sorry to state your suggested procedure, just now repeated, (Which I had complied with all along), has not solved the problem.

For your info, the printout lists the CDR value as “00000″.

    QuadCore:

I too am having some trouble with my iP4600.

All steps go well until I get to step 3.C.
Clicking the “Print 2″ button yields an error: “Error! (error code : 002)”
Clicking the “Print 1″ button prints my status sheet. I get “EUR V1.070″ just fine, however I still have “CDRS=(0000)”.

When I attempt to print, I leave the door shut with the CD printer tray left out until the instructions tell me to insert it. Then when prompted to, I place the tray in as described. Then the printer sucks it in, spits it back out and tells me that there is no CD loaded or the tray is not inserted.

    Any ideas? I’m desperate.

I have also verified that the Registry Key CnmFSI_CDRSWITCH has the setting of (1).
I do wonder if Canon is using the Registry Key CnmUI_ShipmentPlace with a setting of (1) to identify that this printer was sold in the US.

Am I on the right track?
    Again… Desperate.

    Thanks.

    2. Yes

I get the printout just fine (Using the print 1 button), but I get the FAIL version with CDRS=(0000).
The print 2 button gives me the error after it asks me to print from the rear tray. I haven’t tried to print from the front tray with the print 2 button though.

When I clicking the Print 1 button prints my status sheet. I get EUR V1.050? , But I still have “CDRS=(0000)”.

Any recent success with the 4600/4700 mods?

Found a 4700 on presidents day sale for $49. I’m ready to stop searching e-bay for a deal on older models, but need to make sure it will work for CD printing.

Thanks to those making this possible and all their hard work.

    Dear QuadCore,

    MP640 on Windows 7 machine.

    1) Printer Off; Plugged in
    2) Pressed Down Arrow (6 o’clock on navigator wheel) and ON button for > 5 seconds.
    3) Pressed Down Arrow twice while continuing to press ON button
    4) LED light is on as soon as step 2 is executed
    5) Launch CD-PrintTool-4
    6) Set Region to EUR
    7) Press SET button
    8) Immediately returns Error! (error code: 006)

Is this the correct procedure? Appreciate any advice.

    Thanks,
    Tatu

    Dear QuadCore,

On MP640, Pressing the STOP and ON buttons for > 5 seconds enters Service Mode.

Ran Print-Tool and got EUR v1.040 and CDRS=(0095).

Ths success printout in your example has EUR V1.039 and CDRS as 0099 but I’ll assume that so far this is correct.

    Continuing on…

    Thanks,
    Tatu

    Hey Quad,

I’m sorry if this is a repeated question. I’m new to the site as of this morning and still finding my way around. The MP990 CAN or CAN NOT be enabled for direct CD\DVD printing with Tray G ?

I have an MP980 and followed all the steps. The printout with the colors on it shows CDR Sensor=NG so I guess CAnon did not put the CDR Sensor in the US models. I love the printer output in terms of quality but I doubt if I will ever buy an other Canon printer due to their tricks re CD Printing and the amount of ink it uses.

I just noticed the updated list of Canon printers that will print cd/dvds. Thanks for the update. I wanted to purchase a printer but was afraid the printer I bought would not allow cd/dvd printing.

I have three questions regarding the new models:

    Question 1) Do these new models - ip4700 & mp640 - require the purchasing of a cd/dvd tray?
Question 2) If so, which tray type does each use?
Question 3) Does the ip4700 & mp640 require purchasing rollers as the older models required?

    Dear MP640 Readers,

I wanted to let you know that after following the above instructions and then ordering a Tray G, the CD print feature worked like a charm. My thanks to QuadCore for helping me fix my printer. It was after diligent research that I decided to get a Canon MP640. The CD print capability was one of the main reasons for this choice of a “Multifunction” printer. Much to my dismay, it was only after the printer arrived that I discovered that the CD print feature was disabled. There is no mention that this was the case on the Canon web site. Since this printer is significantly different than the ones being sold in Europe and Japan, Canon should have given it a different model number in the U.S. (or at least a suffix like MP640A).

    Thanks QuadCore!

    Hello,

Another confirmation of the Canon Pro9000 MK II. It took a couple of times, probably my mistake and I had to use print1 to get the diagnostic printout. I just removed the drivers and reinstalled from my US canon cd install. Then the canon solutions listed cd tray printing. I am using accoustica label printer with no problems.

    Thank you very much,
    Randy
