There are many more options for printer networking, some very interesting.

Linksys makes the NSLU2; really just a Linux PC in a tiny box. People are using it to do all kinds of things. It was built to be a network print server. Available from $60.

There are many options for “USB print servers” from $20. Try a Google product search.

There are Network Attached Storage devices that include USB ports; buy a networked hard drive, get a print server for free. Search NAS at your favorite retailer. Look for USB ports, some also with eSATA ports for more drives. Get a networked RAID system and share 4 USB devices all in one gadget. All are wired, as far as I have seen, but a pure gadget-geek thrill anyway.

Most of those don’t work well or at all with the features that are on the Canon MP series.

A good print server that is properly designed to work with Multi Function Printers is hard to find.
