First do the Five steps that your model requires.

Only do this process if your having problems with Tray Rejection. This seems to occur with the MP600

1. Unplug the printer for at least 2 minutes from the wall.

2. Plug the printer back in but leave the printer turned off.

3. Enter Service Mode

a. Hold Stop/Reset button and the Power button for 5 seconds

b. Release Stop/Reset button but continue to hold Power button

c. Press Stop/Reset twice

d. Release the Power Button

e. Wait for the light to stop flashing. The printer is now in service mode. The display may be blank or simply read “Canon” during this time.

4. Do an EPROM reset.

a. Press the Stop/Reset button 3 times.

b. Press the Power button twice. The printer will save the changes and then it will reboot. A little cd/dvd icon will appear in the LCD screen.

3. The printer will probably now require the same setting up as when you first unpacked it. That is, you will need to select a language and let the printer do a head alignment.

The printer is now enabled.

Don’t forget to reinstall the printer driver.

I really need help here. I have a MP600, and have an F tray. I’ve done the EPROM reset at least 5 times, but it hasn’t worked. The printer keeps telling me that I need to insert a CD-R drive after one was inserted. If anyone can offer assistance, that’d be great. E-mail is kph59@hotmail.com

Does the MP500 also have this problem? I can’t seem to get the CDR code to change from 000000 to -00200 after the 5 easy steps and the printer says that the Inner Door is Open when the “D” tray is inserted.

The MX850 doesn’t show a CD/DVD icon after EPROM reset, it just shuts off. The EPROM is clearly reset, however.

Heads are still aligning, will report if CDRS changes from 0000 after it’s done and I can go print an EPROM page. I’m using OS X, so tray rejection can be caused by anything, including the phase of the moon. If I can get the complex thing with Preview or similar to produce output, I’ll label a dud CD and see if the SmileOnMyMac CD labeller can bypass the whole mess. It’s not free, but if it works, I’ll be happy to purchase my upgrade from Version 2 to .. what,. version 5 now? ;)

    I have a Canono MP530.

I tried to make some adjustments using the test mode. I have something wrong, now when I turn the printer I see strange characters, like Chinese. Now I can not use more of my printer.

    HELP!
